The SuperManila Comic Con is being held throughout the weekend, and we have just wrapped up our visit for the first day! We had a really fun time at the event, but with the sheer number of things to see and activities to do, we might now have seen everything that it has to offer. However, we did see our share of amazing stuff inside that might get you interested in paying a visit before the day is over.
The Artists!
You can really feel the essence of SMCC once you enter the artist areas where both popular and up-and-coming talented artists have set up their respective booths where you can have your stuff signed, buy their merchandise or artwork, and even see how they do their craft firsthand! It’s also amazing to see all of the classic comics, artworks, and other memorabilia that people have brought to finally have their favorite artist sign on them!
One of the many highlights of this area is Bob Layton, who is one of the most renowned comic book artists in the world. He has worked for both Marvel and DC but is best known for his work on the Iron Man comics. Another popular name in attendance is Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, who is one of the most well-known digital artists of our time.
Toys And Collectibles!
The other half of SuperManila Comic Con is, of course, the toys and collectibles! Whether you’re into Funko Pop, Art Toys, Gundam Kits, Anime figures, Gachapon, or just one of the many other things that people collect nowadays, there’s probably a shop or booth that’ll interest you. We also saw some unique merch like the Funko X Jollibee figure has a really long line, the newest designs from QUICCS, and even some original Genshin Impact merch! There’s probably more that we have missed, so fair warning, if you’re going in there to shop, make sure to prepare your wallets!
Booths, Displays, And Activities
For those of us who are looking to be marked safe from all of the budol yet still want to enjoy the festivities, the main stage has a lot of interesting segments throughout the day – from artists talking about their works to the Dandadan sneak preview, to interview with prominent pop-culture personalities. A lot of the interesting booths have fun and interesting activities that you can do, such as assembling model kits or getting a free photo at the Agatha All Along-themed setup, or having a photo with the characters of the much-hyped about anime Dandadan! at their booth.
And, of course, a lot of amazing figures, statues, and artwork are on full display to gush about and leave you considering starting your own collection – hey, maybe it’s not such a bad idea to buy a Nenroid of your favorite character, right?
So, if you’re looking for a fun, unique way to cap off the weekend, take the trip to the SuperManila Comic Con!
