Xiaomi’s newest entry-level phone just landed, and it’s bringing serious upgrades without the serious price. The Redmi A5 combines a fresh new look, major improvements in photography, and a massive screen—all while keeping things affordable. A Cleaner, Bigger, and More Comfortable Design
The Redmi A5 sheds the usual entry-level design in favor of something more polished. It features a flat frame, matte finish, and a revamped rear camera deco that gives off a subtle metallic vibe. Color options lean into personality—there’s the classic Midnight Black and Sandy Gold for a more minimalist look, while Lake Green and Ocean Blue add flair with water-inspired veining patterns.
Even with a slim 8.26mm profile, the phone doesn’t skimp on screen size. You get a 6.88-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate—a rare feature at this price point. That alone makes scrolling and video playback feel smoother. It also includes TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection and DC dimming, making it easier on the eyes during long viewing sessions. Surprisingly Good Cameras for the Price
The biggest surprise on the Redmi A5 is the camera. On the back, you get a 32MP AI dual camera setup with a larger sensor that captures more light—18% more than its predecessor. This makes low-light shots brighter and more detailed, while also improving performance in backlit conditions.

Performance is handled by the octa-core UNISOC T7250 processor, paired with up to 8GB of dynamic RAM through memory extension. It’s not meant for heavy gaming, but for social apps, media, and light multitasking, it handles things smoothly.
Battery life is another area where the Redmi A5 delivers. The 5200mAh battery is rated for over 20 hours of video playback or around 9 hours of mobile gaming—solid numbers for users who want something that can keep up with daily use.
Other practical touches include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack for those still rocking wired audio gear.

It’s set to go live online starting May 20 via Xiaomi’s official Shopee and Lazada stores, with in-store availability starting May 23 at authorized Mi Stores nationwide.
