Digimon Story Time Stranger Arrives October 2: Here’s What You Need to Know

    Published on:

A new Digimon game is on the horizon, and it looks like a big one. Digimon Story Time Stranger is launching on October 2, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, followed by a PC release via Steam on October 3. Bandai Namco has dropped a new trailer that teases a high-stakes journey across both the real and digital worlds, and longtime fans might recognize a few legendary Digimon along the way.

Back to the Past to Save the Future

In Time Stranger, players take on the role of either Dan Yuki or Kanan Yuki, agents of ADAMAS who get sent into the past. Their mission? Stop the collapse of the Digital World and prevent that disaster from reaching the Human World. The threat comes in the form of the Titans, whose destruction could cause permanent damage to both dimensions.

It’s the kind of premise that leans into classic Digimon storytelling—high stakes, digital gods, and bonds that shape the outcome of entire worlds.

The Olympos XII and New Faces

Throughout the story, players will encounter several key Digimon, including the Olympos XII, a group of powerful deity-level Digimon who play a major part in the narrative. You’ll also meet new characters like Aegiomon and Inori Misono, who are connected by a mysterious link that seems central to the plot.

There’s plenty of lore here for longtime Digimon fans to dig into, but it’s also designed to be accessible for players who are just starting out.

    Training, Bonding, and Battle Systems

As with past Digimon Story games, training and bonding with your Digimon remain at the heart of the experience. You’ll be able to grow your team through activities at the DigiFarm, where time spent and the right items can level up your monsters and build deeper bonds.

Combat sticks to the turn-based formula, but with added depth through attributes, traits, and skill combinations. It encourages strategy without becoming overwhelming, perfect for players who enjoy customizing their team and figuring out optimal setups for tougher encounters.

    A Story Worth Telling Again

At its core, Digimon Story Time Stranger is a story about bonds between humans, between Digimon, and between the two worlds they try to protect. With its return to turn-based combat, familiar faces, and an all-new plot that dives into mythological territory, this title has the potential to be one of the franchise’s most memorable RPGs.

If you’ve been waiting for a new Digimon adventure that blends classic systems with modern presentation, this one’s shaping up to be a promising entry.
