FromSoftware just dropped Elden Ring: Nightreign ’s latest update, and while it’s not the biggest patch in the world, it’s got a couple of changes worth getting excited about—especially if you’ve been itching to dive into adventures with a smaller crew.
Two-Player Expeditions Are Now a Thing
Before, Expeditions were all about going in with the standard group setup—but now, you can kick off an Expedition in Elden Ring: Nightreign with just two players. Perfect for those times when you and your go-to Tarnished buddy want a more focused, coordinated run without waiting for a full squad.

This change also comes with a small menu tweak—what used to be called “Expedition Type” is now “Number of Players.” And yes, the game will adjust its balance based on how many of you are braving the journey.
Easier Relic Effect Filtering
If you’ve ever scrolled through the Relic Effect list and thought, “Man, I just want to find that one thing,” this update’s for you. New filtering options have been added so you can fine-tune your search and spend less time menu-diving, more time enemy-slaying.
Performance Tweaks and Bug Fixes
A few gameplay details have also been smoothed out:
- Ironeye’s Character Skill mark is now easier to see, so you won’t miss those crucial moments in the chaos of battle.
- Fixed a quirky bug where playing as Revenant with the Lira equipped and attacking from behind an enemy would sometimes trigger a backstab animation instead of summoning a Family Member.
- Plus, the usual behind-the-scenes performance boosts and bug fixes.
Version 1.02 might not be a massive overhaul, but for co-op fans and players who live in the Relic menus, it’s a quality-of-life win. Now grab your partner-in-ruin and go test those two-player runs—you might find the Lands Between even more intense when it’s just the two of you.
