Geek Out Over These 6 *New Avengers Easter Eggs!

It’s been 2 whole weeks since Thunderbolts*, or as officially revealed, *New Avengers dropped and it has quickly become the main topic of conversation among Marvel and comics-loving fans. Many fans claim that it has officially returned the ‘cinematic’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But is it just a good story?

Well, we’ve gotten a collation all the easter eggs, clues, and subtle Marvel nods from the film that we have been geeking about and believe fans should discuss more. From the OG Avengers nod, a possible Daredevil crossover, to the revelation of the asterisk, we have it all here!

We tried our best to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, but you still might want to keep your hand over your eyes if you haven’t watched it yet!

‘On Your Left’

Love him, hate him, or love to hate him, John Walker is an undeniable Steve Rogers fanboy. In Falcon and the Winter Soldier, when he was appointed Captain America (for 2 seconds, as Yelena would say), he did a lot of research on Steve to fill his shoes. From his early life, relationships, and combat and fighting style, Walker did all he could to be the best Captain America he could be.

Even when as the US Agent, he still tried to embody Steve, even subtly throwing a few of Steve’s iconic lines here and there. Good thing the original Avengers didn’t catch a lick of what Walker was saying.

Sisterly Similarities

Related by blood or not, Yelena is Natasha’s little sister through and through. The film opened with Yelena doing her usual badassery and showing off her elite assassin skills—casually jumping off a skyscraper like it’s no big deal. When fighting, it becomes apparent whose fighting style Yelena was mirroring, complete with acrobatics, twirls, and deadly pirouettes. What path will Yelena choose, and what kind of endgame would she have?

The Avengers V The NEW Avengers*

After overcoming a city-altering challenge, The Thunderbolts* face another. But this time between friends and former partners. With Valentina naming the ‘Thunderbolts*’ the official ‘*New Avengers,’ Sam, the official ‘Captain America,’ might be forced to think of a new name for when he makes his new team of Avengers. But will he? If so, Sam might need a lawyer for this case. Not just any lawyer, but a really good lawyer, maybe someone in a red suit?

Superheroes’ favorite city?

Remember the very first time the OG Avengers assembled in New York and gave humanity a glimmer of hope? Much like the OG’s they came together, as a new generation of Earth’s mightiest heroes (reluctantly might I add). Is this an ode to the OG or a bold declaration that ‘we’re the same but different’?

That post-credits scene

In the movie’s post-credits scene, the *New Avengers were gathered in their new headquarters when a foreign object was seen entering Earth’s atmosphere. Could it be fantastic news or something more sinister bound to doom Earth? We have 4 reasons to think it’s the former!

**The Thunderbolts* are the *New Avengers**

The long-awaited meaning behind the mystery of the asterisk is finally revealed, and in the most iconic and cinema-shaking way. The whole world and the *New Avengers, and Bob, were just as shaken with the revelation. This openins whole new possibilities, but also posing a lot of questions for the burgeoning post-Endgame world.

*New Avengers is truly pushing the boundaries of what makes a superhero film. It challenges the image of the superheroes we are accustomed to. Aside from these easter eggs and the many riotous internet memes it birthed, *New Avengers also sheds light on important issues like mental health and its impact on a person’s well-being. For many, this signals a new hope and direction for the ever-widening MCU.
