The countdown begins. Riot Games has officially confirmed that 2XKO, its upcoming 2v2 tag-based fighter set in the League of Legends universe, will launch its global Closed Beta on September 9, 2025, starting with Windows PC. For fans of fast-paced fighting games and Runeterra lore, this marks the biggest leap forward yet for the highly anticipated title.

Riot says the Closed Beta is here to stay—servers will remain up continuously from the start of beta through to the game’s full launch. That means anyone who gets in early can play consistently and help shape the final game experience.
Cross-Platform Progression, Console Coming Soon
While the beta will initially be PC-only, 2XKO will also launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X down the line. Better still, full cross-platform progression and inventory sync will be enabled, so you can start your grind on PC and pick up right where you left off when consoles open up.
Vi Entered the Ring at Evo Las Vegas
Ahead of the global beta, Riot has brought something extra to the fighting game community at Evo Las Vegas (August 1-3): Vi, the League of Legends enforcer (and Arcane fan favorite), was playable for the first time at the 2XKO booth. She’ll also be part of the official Closed Beta roster when it goes live in September.

Vi joins a growing lineup of League champions being reimagined for the fighting game space. And from what we’ve seen in early gameplay footage and Evo teaser clips, she hits just as hard here as she does in Piltover.

Built for the FGC, with Room for Newcomers
2XKO is Riot’s first full leap into the fighting game genre, and so far, it’s clear they’re not just checking boxes. With its tag-based mechanics, flashy art style, and free-to-play model, the game is designed to appeal to competitive players and curious newcomers alike. Whether you’re into footsies and frames or just want to squad up with your favorite League champs, 2XKO aims to bridge that gap.
