The Fantastic Four Lands in the Philippines This July 23

Marvel’s First Family finally enters the MCU spotlight, and Filipino fans won’t have to wait long. The Fantastic Four: First Steps premieres in cinemas nationwide this July 23, bringing a mix of heart, heroics, and cosmic chaos to the big screen.

Set in a vibrant 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world, the film explores what it really means to be a family of superheroes. The story centers on purpose, identity, and the sometimes complicated truth that family ties don’t disappear when powers enter the equation.

    A Star-Studded Cast for a Legendary Team

At the center of this long-awaited debut is a cast built to bring Marvel’s First Family to life with charm and emotional range. Pedro Pascal takes on the role of Reed Richards, a brilliant mind with a sense of responsibility that often borders on burden. Vanessa Kirby steps into the role of Sue Storm, whose invisible powers and emotional strength hold the team together. Ebon Moss-Bachrach brings layers to Ben Grimm, who’s as thoughtful as he is tough. And Joseph Quinn lights up the screen as Johnny Storm, bringing his signature fire and impulsiveness to the Human Torch.

Together, they don’t always get along—but they always show up for each other. That dynamic is what drives the story forward.

    Staying True to the Comics

The film pulls from the source material in more ways than one. Their origin story—an experimental space mission gone wrong that transforms their lives—is lifted straight from the 1961 comics. But instead of leaning only on spectacle, First Steps takes time to show how these changes ripple through their relationships and choices.

They’re soon forced into action against one of the most formidable threats in the Marvel universe: Galactus, Devourer of Worlds, and his Herald, the Silver Surfer. But this fight isn’t just about survival. It’s about understanding what kind of team—and what kind of family—they want to be.

Director Matt Shakman captured that balance intentionally. “They’re people first,” he said in a recent interview. “They become superheroes when they have to. That’s what sets them apart—they feel real. Their struggles are familiar, even when the stakes are cosmic.”

The Fantasticar Lands at SM Megamall

To celebrate the launch, Marvel has brought the Fantasticar to the Philippines. Fans can catch this iconic retro-futuristic ride on display at SM Megamall Fashion Hall from July 18 to 24. It’s part of the Fantastic Four “Future World’s Fair” experience, which features photo zones and chances to win themed prizes.

Family Movie Night, Powered by Cosmic Rays

This movie speaks to fans new and old, mixing larger-than-life spectacle with a grounded story about people trying to figure it all out. Bring the family, call the barkada, and experience the start of something fantastic.
