Wild Rift Turns 5 with aespa’s NINGNING and a New Era of Music, Champions, and Competition

    Published on:

League of Legends: Wild Rift is celebrating its 5th anniversary — and it’s doing it in style. Riot Games is marking the milestone with a full lineup of new content, in-game events, and a special musical collaboration that bridges gaming and K-pop.

At the heart of this celebration is “Miss This Life,” an electro-pop anthem performed by NINGNING of aespa, made to capture the nostalgia and excitement that define the Wild Rift community.

“Miss This Life”: Nostalgia in a Song

Co-created with Riot’s music team, “Miss This Life” mirrors a player’s personal journey — from college to adulthood — and the evolution of Wild Rift’s champions over five years. It’s upbeat, emotional, and built to resonate with longtime fans who’ve grown alongside the game.

The track officially debuts in-game and across streaming platforms, accompanied by a music video packed with iconic champion moments and emotional throwbacks from Wild Rift’s five-year history.

Wild Rift Executive Producer David Xu explains it best:

“NINGNING’s ‘Miss This Life’ captures the energy and emotion of endless discovery — the same excitement players have felt over these five amazing years.”

New Champion: Nidalee Enters the Rift

The celebration also marks the arrival of Nidalee, the huntress and shapeshifter from League of Legends’ classic lineup. Known for her agile jungle gameplay and signature spear throws, she brings a new dimension of mobility and strategy to Wild Rift’s expanding roster.

More Ways to Play: Updated AAARAM Mode

Fan-favorite mode AAARAM (All Action, All Random, All Mid) is getting a competitive refresh with pro player-inspired Augments, giving players new tactical options and more unpredictable fun during quick matches.

    Wild Rounds: SMASH Expands Globally

Beyond the game itself, Wild Rounds: SMASH, Wild Rift’s grassroots esports circuit, continues to grow. With over 20 regions and thousands of players worldwide, it’s become a launchpad for rising talents and passionate communities alike.

The next major stop? Vietnam, hosting the next tournament from November 14–16, bringing together some of the best Wild Rift squads in the region.

Five Years Strong — And Still Leveling Up

From its launch to today, Wild Rift has become more than a mobile MOBA. It’s a shared space for stories, friendships, and unforgettable plays — now soundtracked by one of K-pop’s most powerful voices.

The journey’s far from over, but this anniversary proves one thing: after five years, the Rift still feels like home.
