Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Returns for an Exciting Second Season!

    Published on:

Riot Games Philippines just dropped some awesome news last week for League of Legends: Wild Rift fans. The nationwide grassroots tournament, Wild Rounds: Pilipinas, is back for its second season.

The Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open 2025 promises to be bigger and bolder, with an upgraded ₱1.5 million prize pool and a packed tournament roadmap stretching from mid to late 2025. If last year’s kickoff was any hint, this new season is going to be one for the ages.

    New Season, New Scene

When Wild Rounds first launched in 2024, Riot PH made it clear they were serious about growing the grassroots Wild Rift scene here in the country. They built a space where loyal players and local communities could not just compete, but thrive. And now, season two is leveling that up even more. With this return, Riot Games Philippines is doubling down on its commitment to evolve competitive Wild Rift play in the local esports scene.

In regards to their take on community focus, Joel Guzman, Country Manager at Riot Games Philippines had this to say: “Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open 2025 is our way of keeping our ever-supportive core communities alive, while bringing Wild Rift even closer to more Filipino players. By aligning with Riot Games’ global calendar and patch updates, we see to it that our local activations deliver world-class gaming experiences,” said Joel Guzman, Country Manager of Riot Games Philippines.

Before the main tournament kicks off, Riot’s spicing things up with a bunch of side activities. Mainly, the Wild Rounds Circuit to get players hyped and new challengers ready to dive in. One of the first to launch was Wild Rift Wednesdays, which started back in April. It’s a weekly community play series that shines a spotlight on popular gaming creators. On top of that, it gives players more chances to connect with the larger Wild Rift PH community. Basically, every Wednesday is an open invitation to squad up and show off your skills.

Amateur to Pro: The Wild Journey Begins

Starting this May, Riot is also rolling out a fresh batch of grassroots events with Ground Zero Tournament hosting a series of amateur competitions. These will highlight local talent from all corners of the country, running until October. Expect plenty of fast-paced, high-energy matches as amateur players get their shot at the spotlight, chasing the dream just like the pros.

As for the main event? Registration for Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open 2025 officially opens this May. The tournament is set to unfold in three splits across the year, all in a nationwide open format.

    • Sign-ups for Split 1 open in May, with brackets drawn on June 9 and posted June 10.
    • Group Stage matches: June 14–15 (Groups A & B) and June 21–22 (Groups C & D). Top four teams from each group move to the Top 16, announced June 25.
    • Top 16 and Top 8 matches happen June 28–29, leading to the epic live finals on July 5.

Stay tuned—more updates on registration and the full tournament roadmap are coming soon.

But that’s not all. The all-star invitational Wild Rounds: Smash is also making a comeback. They’re bringing fan-favorite pro teams and top Filipino influencers into the mix this time around.

Expect new tournament mechanics and cross-region clashes that’ll be revealed soon.

    5 Years of Wild Rift

And in October, Riot will celebrate five years of Wild Rift in the Philippines with in-game events, exclusive rewards, and surprise content to thank the community for all the epic battles, friendships, and memories made along the way.

“This year’s tournament, along with our other exciting lineup of activities for Wild Rift, are a manifestation of our consistent dedication to the community,” shared Kimi Salazar, MOBA Brand Manager of Riot Games Philippines. “Our goal is to inspire deeper engagement and unite players, creators, and gaming communities across the country. In true Filipino spirit, we’re inviting everyone again to ‘magpakitang gilas’ at the Rift.”

With the full 2025 Wild Rift roadmap out in the open, players can expect an action-packed year of tournaments, events, and celebrations that keep the game’s local scene thriving.
