YGG Play Summit 2025 Expands “City of Play” with the Skill District

    Published on:

As the YGG Play Summit 2025 returns to SMX Aura this November 19–22, its City of Play experience is expanding to include one of its most forward-thinking zones yet — the Skill District.

Designed by Metaversity, the educational arm of YGG Pilipinas, this district brings the future of learning to life through hands-on workshops, mentorship sessions, and digital upskilling for the Web3 and AI generation. It’s a place where students, creators, and professionals can discover new opportunities in content creation, marketing, game development, and emerging tech.

Building Skills for the Digital EconomyYGG Play Summit 2025

The Skill District is part of the Summit’s four themed areas — alongside the Player District, Degen District, and The Arena — but its focus is crystal clear: helping Filipinos learn, build, and earn in the digital economy.

Three new experiences headline this year’s edition:

    • Prompt to Prototype, a vibe coding workshop that teaches aspiring builders how to create playable game prototypes using AI tools.
    • Metaversity Interactive, a national dialogue between schools, government, and tech leaders to close skills gaps and align education with industry needs.
    • Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) City, a pioneering builder residency developed with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), which trained 120 developers from the MIMAROPA region in the Sui blockchain’s Move programming language.

DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin described the partnership as an example of Digital Bayanihan in action — a collaboration between government, industry, and communities to create meaningful digital work.

“These efforts bring us closer to a future where Filipinos can build transformative, sustainable, and rewarding careers without having to leave the comfort of their own homes.”

Upskilling the Next GenerationYGG Play Summit 2025

With Sui as its anchor sponsor, the Skill District will showcase the results of the MFW City pilot program — including onstage appearances by two graduates from Palawan who will present their blockchain projects alongside James Wing, Head of Strategic Partnerships and Investments at Mysten Labs, the creators of Sui.

Meanwhile, Metaversity Interactive will gather leaders from government, academia, and industry to identify the most in-demand skills for the Philippine workforce, ensuring students gain training aligned with global market demand.

Finally, Prompt to Prototype — a 4-hour coding workshop powered by Base Philippines — will teach participants to use AI and no-code tools to turn ideas into playable games. It’s a crash course in creativity that proves the next great Filipino game dev might just be one prompt away.

Empowering Filipino BuildersYGG Play Summit 2025

“This year’s Skill District is where learning meets play,” said Mench Dizon, Country Head of YGG Pilipinas. “It’s where anyone can level up their career or personal growth through hands-on experiences that lead to real opportunities. Our mission is to help Filipinos thrive in the digital economy — not just as workers, but as innovators.”

Official school partners like STI College – BGC, University of Santo Tomas, National University, and University of Southeastern Philippines are among more than 10 participating institutions supporting the initiative.

Beyond the Classroom: Play Meets Purpose

While the Skill District powers up learners, The Arena will heat up with esports tournaments for Parallel, Vibes, and Might & Magic: Fates, featuring a combined US$125,000 prize pool.

Industry leaders from Ubisoft, Sky Mavis, Gunzilla Games, Parallel Studios, and SuperGaming will also take the stage for panels and fireside chats, discussing how games and Web3 technology are shaping global entertainment.

    A Summit for the Future

The YGG Play Summit 2025 runs from November 19–22 at SMX Aura, Bonifacio Global City, bringing together builders, gamers, and innovators under one roof. With partners like Sui, DWF Labs, Coins.ph, Sky Mavis, and Vibes TCG, it’s shaping up to be the Philippines’ biggest stage for the next era of play, work, and creativity.
