With the Nintendo Switch 2 just around the corner, its release is accompanied by a ton of new releases this year. Here are the top 5 games coming out on the Switch this year so far.
1. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

A Metroid sequel after 18 years?? That’s right, Samus Aran returns in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond! This highly anticipated sequel for the Nintendo Switch takes our favorite bounty hunter to new intergalactic heights. Funny enough, this game was actually announced back in 2017. It took 7 years before any update was announced (so Nintendo). It’s got great graphics for a rather old title, immersive gameplay that’s reminiscent of its predecessors, and a storyline that looks to dive deeper into Samus’s perspective. Metroid fans can expect an adventure that’s both a visual treat and emotionally gripping.
2. Pokémon Legends: Z-A

That’s right, we have another Pokémon remake set for 2025. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set within the bustling Lumiose City. We’re journeying back to the Kalos region in this remake and boy is it a nostalgia trip. This game, like X and Y, has a unique blend of urban exploration and classic Pokémon mechanics. Game Freak Said they’re introducing new gameplay elements that will keep the game feeling fresh. Here’s hoping it’s a lot better than Scarlet and Violet (Yes, I said it)
There’s an urban redevelopment plan underway in Lumiose City. That means players will navigate through new areas of the city, uncovering secrets and encountering never-before-seen Pokémon.
3. Little Nightmares III

If you liked the first two games, then this one is for you. Dive into the eerie and enchanting world of Little Nightmares III on the Nintendo Switch. Following the journey of Low & Alone, this game offers a chilling experience that fans of the series have come to love. With its hauntingly beautiful art style and captivating storyline, Little Nightmares III is sure to send shivers down your spine. Try playing this at night with the lights off! It’ll enhance the experience.
As you navigate through the twisted environments, you’ll face new challenges and uncover dark secrets. This game keeps the essence of its predecessors while adding new layers of depth and horror.
4. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

Fans of the Xenoblade series, rejoice! We are so back with Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. The game brings back the epic sci-fi RPG with a fresh coat of polish. This edition includes enhanced graphics, remastered audio, and additional content that enriches the already expansive lore of Mira. This game is set to release on the Nintendo Switch in March 20, 2025
Not only will you get to re-experience the massive landscapes and thrilling battles, but new quests and characters have been introduced to make this journey even more unforgettable. It’s an RPG lover’s dream come true!
5. Hollow Knight: Silksong

Team Cherry’s masterpiece continues with Hollow Knight: Silksong. Fans of the original Hollow Knight have been eagerly awaiting this sequel, and it’s easy to see why. This time, you play as Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, as she embarks on a perilous adventure to a brand-new kingdom.
Silksong promises to deliver everything we loved about the original game and more—stunning hand-drawn visuals, intense platforming action, and an enchanting world brimming with secrets. With a new cast of characters, breathtaking landscapes, and challenging foes, it’s set to captivate and challenge players in equal measure. Expect a beautifully dark, immersive experience that will stay with you long after you put down the controller. I for one am looking forward to this the most!
